Teen found shot in East Liberty

A teenage boy was shot in the head early Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of North Euclid Avenue and East Liberty Boulevard at 12:45 a.m. for reports of shots fired. Officers found the boy, believed to be 16 years old, with a gunshot wound that grazed his head near the 5800 block of East Liberty Boulevard.

The boy was conscious and speaking with officers and medics. He was taken to a local hospital by Pittsburgh EMS.

Police said the crime scene was located nearby in the 500 block of Borland Street, where a home was damaged by bullets.

An investigation is ongoing.


Police rule out hoax threat at Chartiers Valley

On Monday, police looked into an online threat made in a group chat of Chartiers Valley High School students, the district said in an alert sent to parents.

“At this time we do not feel there is any credible threat, and school will proceed as normal,” the district wrote in the alert, sent around 10 p.m. Monday.

The students involved will not attend school Tuesday.
