Brackenridge Council has narrowed a list of streets to be paved this summer.
It’s short but covers a lot of ground.
This year’s road improvement project will target portions of First Avenue, Union Avenue and Prospect Street.
Borough officials said they expect to approve the project to go out for bids at the next regular meeting on May 1.
As proposed, First Avenue will be paved from the pump house to Mile Lock Lane, and a portion of Union Avenue will be paved from Morgan Street to Emerson Drive, near the borough’s water plant.
Depending on costs, either half or all of Prospect Street will get work done. The road stretches from Freeport Road to Sixth Avenue.
The upper half of Prospect will be paved and, if the price is within budget, the lower half will be approved as an alternate.
A resident of Roup Avenue questioned council during a meeting earlier this month about when a $1 million sinkhole restoration project would be complete.
Borough Engineer Gordon Taylor said it is on schedule and should wrap up in the coming weeks.
Work there is expected to correct flooding that has been a problem near Ninth Avenue and Morgan Street. The project includes rerouting lines.
The sinkhole is the result of a leak or a break in a sewer line that is believed to have been installed in the early 1900s.
