Ever notice how politics makes people break out in song? Maybe that only happens in Broadway musicals. Anyway, no other American presidency has made me feel as tuneful as now.

I have a song in my heart, and I want in the worst way to belt it out. It’s called “Oligarchs and Bromance.” Lyrics are as follows: A bromance is a weird, immature relationship between two dangerous, narcissistic men. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are in a bromance now, a sort of male platonic romance. A ditzy love affair encompassing world politics. Musk, the oligarch, and Trump, maybe the most powerful baritone in the world, are singing together. And downsizing the federal government. Imposing tariffs. The two men, in bromance, are autocratic together. Callous together. An affront to progressive humanitarian goals. The two pals, in their bromance, are phasing out DEI, together. Like an evil Rodgers and Hammerstein.

My Broadway musical is at risk of flopping at the box office. Maybe the Dems will produce a viable candidate for president next election. In the meantime, it’s a bad opera, and it ain’t over till the large statured female sings. I’ve been suggesting, while everyone enjoys the lights, the noise, the pageantry at large, Dems and GOPs, at grassroots level, sing together. Pleasantly. And democratically. Peace and prosperity is just a song and dance away.
