Max Vollmer tripled twice and drove in five runs to lead Plum to a 7-2 victory over Franklin Regional on Tuesday, competing a two-game series sweep in Section 1-5A baseball.

Dan Macioce had a double and an RBI for the Mustangs (14-2, 9-1). Anthony Mitchell had a double and two RBIs for the Panthers (10-5, 6-4).

Apollo-Ridge 2, Brentwood 0 – Brody Henderson threw a complete-game shutout, giving up seven hits and striking out three, to carry Apollo-Ridge (7-6, 7-5) to a Section 3-2A victory. Brayden McCracken singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Vikings. Aidan Barker singled and stole two bases for Brentwood (5-10, 3-7).

Aquinas Academy 11, St. Joseph 2 – Winning pitcher Jonah Burchill threw four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning seven, and had a double and an RBI to power Aquinas Academy (4-9, 4-8) to a Section 2-A win. Jack Stanton went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Crusaders. Gabe Maltese singled and drove in a run for St. Joseph (2-11, 2-10).

Belle Vernon 11, Albert Gallatin 0 – Lucas Judy threw a six-inning, four-hit shutout with five strikeouts and went 2 for 4 with three RBIs to power Belle Vernon (11-3, 8-2) past Albert Gallatin (4-10, 4-8) in Section 2-4A. Connor Bergman went 3 for 4 with a double, homer and two RBIs for the Leopards.

Ellwood City 8, Mohawk 7 – Jordan Keller had a single, double and two RBIs and Sam Landis also doubled and drove in a pair for Ellwood City (13-4, 8-2) in a Section 1-3A win. Kam O’Lare drove in two runs and Cash Stratton had two hits for Mohawk (7-8, 5-5).

Fox Chapel 3, Allderdice 2 – Winning pitcher Tristan Blum struck out 10 and went 3 for 3 to send Fox Chapel (12-4, 6-3) to a Section 3-5A win. Kris Bandurski went 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Foxes. Landon Blank had two hits and Brendan Stecik drove in a run for Allderdice (10-6, 6-6).

Freeport 11, Yough 5 – Michael Hanz singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Dustin Kohan pitched three innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts for Freeport (10-6, 6-4) in a Section 3-3A win. Kason Barker had two hits and two RBIs for the Yellowjackets. Sam Smalich singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Raidon Kuroda also singled and doubled for Yough (2-11, 2-8).

Greensburg Central Catholic 8, West Greene 2 – Winning pitcher Alex Martin allowed one earned run and struck out eight to help Greensburg Central Catholic (10-2, 8-1) to a Section 1-A win over West Greene (3-12, 2-8). Anthony Grippo and Nick O’Mahoney each had two hits and Bobby Smithnosky and Brody Bothell each doubled and drove in a run for the Centurions.

Hempfield 10, Woodland Hills 0 – Evan Dunlap had two hits and three RBIs and Chase Sikorski also drove in three runs to help Hempfield (7-11, 5-6) past Woodland Hills (2-11, 0-11) in Section 2-6A. Kevin Bender struck out seven in three innings for the Spartans.

Indiana 1, Valley 0 – Ryan Okopal threw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to lift Indiana (15-1, 10-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Hard-luck losing pitcher Nikolas Heakins gave up one run on three hits and had the only hit at the plate for Valley (7-11, 2-8).

Jeannette 10, Mapletown 0 – Winning pitcher Evan Yargeau threw five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and went 3 for 3 at the plate to lead Jeannette (7-7, 5-4) to a Section 1-A win. Eli Jones doubled and drove in a run and Jayden Kennedy had two RBIs for the Jayhawks. Spencer yeager singled and doubled for Mapletown (2-12, 0-10).

Latrobe 5, Armstrong 4 – Eli Boring went 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs and winning pitcher Joseph Razza had two hits and two RBIs to lead Latrobe (13-4, 8-2) to a Section 1-5A victory. Cole Short doubled and drove in a run for the Wildcats. Chase Jablonski went 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs and Brayden Wright singled, doubled and drove in a run for Armstrong (6-11, 4-8).

Laurel Highlands 7, Uniontown 1 – Sevi Vecchiolla went 4 for 4 with a double and a home run and Braylon Schoch doubled and drove in a run for Laurel Highlands (3-10, 2-8) in a Section 2-4A win. Brayden Hinzy had two hits for Uniontown (2-12, 0-10).

Leechburg 11, Rochester 1 – Mason Bertino went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs and Garrett Jones gave up one unearned run with six strikeouts in five innings for Leechburg (12-2, 12-0) in a Section 2-A win. Jaxson Vargo had a double and an RBI, Jake Cummings had a triple and an RBI and Chase Henry collected two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils. Jett Williams had a hit for Rochester (6-7, 5-7).

Ligonier Valley 10, Southmoreland 1 – Miles Smith threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run and striking out nine, to lead Ligonier Valley (7-7, 6-4) to a Section 3-3A win. Austin Harr singled, tripled twice and drove in four runs and Owen Smith had two singles and a double for the Rams. Brenden Geho had a single and triple for Southmoreland (1-13, 0-10).

Obama Academy 5, Kiski School 4 – Elijah Rawlings singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Caleb Myers singled and tripled to help Obama Academy (7-3) to a nonsection win. Owen Sinclair had two hits and an RBI for Kiski School.

OLSH 14, Springdale 0 – Dean Douglass threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for OLSH (11-6, 9-1) in a Section 3-2A win over Springdale (2-10, 1-9). Thomas Medwig went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Chad Minton went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and Nick Rippole tripled and drove in three runs for the Chargers.

Penn-Trafford 7, Kiski Area 4 – Jason Malamisuro singled, doubled and drove in a run and Aiden Drotos had a double and an RBI to help Penn-Trafford (12-5, 8-2) to a Section 1-5A win. John DeLuca had two hits and an RBI and Zach Hald drove in two runs for Kiski Area (2-12, 1-9).

Peters Township 6, Trinity 1 – Nathan Skroupa had a triple and two RBIs and Reese Clark doubled and plated two runs to lead Peters Township (11-6, 6-4) to a Section 2-5A win. Matthew Robaugh had two hits for Trinity (7-8, 4-6).

Shaler 15, New Castle 0 – Colby McGuire went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Ben Yeckel doubled and homered and Landon Schiffhauer singled and homered to power Shaler (11-4, 7-1) to a Section 3-5A win. Colby Weber threw four one-hit innings with six strikeouts. Paul Malley had a hit for New Castle (4-13, 1-7).

Shenango 4, Laurel 0 – Tyler Houk threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight, to lead Shenango (12-3, 8-2) in a Section 2-2A win over Laurel (5-9, 4-5). Trey Ross pitched a scoreless seventh for the Wildcats. Joey Campoli had three hits and an RBI and Sam Patton singled, doubled and drove in three.

South Allegheny 8, Steel Valley 5 – Josh Nesky went 3 for 4 with an RBI, Mason Campano doubled and knocked in two runs and Caleb Jackowski had two hits and two RBIs for South Allegheny (7-8, 6-4) in a Section 2-3A victory. Jordan Smith drove in two runs for Steel Valley (5-10, 2-8).

Thomas Jefferson 9, McKeesport 0 – Damian Bosco threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout for Thomas Jefferson (12-5, 9-1) in a Section 4-5A win over McKeesport (0-16, 0-10). Justin Fry went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Carter Kirsch had two hits and drove in two runs for the Jaguars

Waynesburg 13, Keystone Oaks 3 – Alex VanSickle went 3 for 3 with a double, triple and RBI, Chad Corwin doubled and drove in two runs and Derek Turcheck tripled and plated a pair to send Waynesburg (14-1, 10-0) to a Section 4-3A win. Brady McDine had two hits for Keystone Oaks (7-7, 4-6).

Union 18, Summit Academy 0 – Logan Staph threw a four-inning, one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and Colton Cox went 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs to lead Union (7-7, 7-5) to a Section 2-A win. Dom Cucitrone went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBis and Geno Biondi doubled and plated a pair for the Scotties. Tyson Douglas had a hit for Summit Academy (0-13, 0-12).

Albert Gallatin 14, Peters Township 3 – Ellie Seese went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs and Mya Glisan homered and drove in four to help Albert Gallatin (3-10, 1-9) to a Section 4-5A win. Avery Carson doubled and knocked in two runs for Peters Township (3-12, 1-10).

Belle Vernon 6, Laurel Highlands 3 – Bella Williams tripled and drove in three runs and Mailey Hayes had two hits and two RBIs to send Belle Vernon (9-9, 7-5) to a Section 2-4A win. Liv McClelland doubled for Laurel Highlands (7-9, 5-6).

Bentworth 17, Washington 3 – Winning pitcher Willow Eckels went seven innings, allowing three runs and striking out 10 for Bentworth (7-6, 4-3) in a Section 4-2A win. Sofia Gaussa (3-for-4) and Sydney Gonglik (2-for-5) both had home runs and three RBIs for the Bearcats. Aniya Glendenning doubled and Alexis Barnhart tripled for Washington (4-6, 0-6).

Carmichaels 15, Mapletown 0 – Bailey Barnyak threw a three-inning perfect game with eight strikeouts and Kaitlyn Waggett went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead Carmichaels (12-0, 8-0) to a Section 2-A win. Duski Staggers went 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs and Ke’lani Chun singled and doubled for the Mighty Mikes.

Hampton 6, North Catholic 1 – Alena Zottola (3 for 3) and Aliza Michielli (2 for 3) each plated two runs in a Section 3-4A win for Hampton (11-3, 10-0). Juliana Lehman doubled and Clare Kotwica homered for North Catholic (6-6, 3-5).

Knoch 16, Valley 3 – Emersyn Jones (3 for 4) doubled, homered and plated five runs in a Section 1-4A win for Knoch (15-1, 11-0). Olyvian Foster (two hits, three RBIs) and Zoey Wyant (three hits, triple, two RBIs) drove in a combined five runs for the Knights. Kylee Quinn had a double and two RBIs for Valley (0-12, 0-8).

North Allegheny 5, Butler 0 – Sammy Plotsko earned the win for North Allegheny (11-7, 10-5) in Section 1-6A after striking out four and collecting a hit and an RBI. Alison Friend (3 for 3) doubled, homered and had three RBIs for the Tigers. Marissa Sklencar and Kyra Olivares both collected hits for Butler (2-17, 2-13).

Riverside 18, New Brighton 3 – Saeryn Hoover collected two hits, homered and plated two runs in a Section 1-2A win for Riverside (5-4, 4-3). Charlie Bissell doubled twice and had two RBIs, while Addison Drake went 2 for 2, tripled and had an RBI for the Panthers. Sundi Fazio drove in two runs for New Brighton (6-9, 1-5).

Seneca Valley 15, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Neve Miller (5), Olivia Hames (3) and Olivia Herrem (2) combined to drive in 10 runswhile Abby Kalkowski surrendered one run and struck out seven in five innings for Seneca Valley (13-2, 9-2) in Section 1-6A. Rebecca Davis went 1 for 2 for Mt. Lebanon (6-7, 4-5).

Serra Catholic 16, Ellis School 0 – Giana Foster pitched a shutout and struck out six in a Section 3-A win for Serra Catholic (8-5, 5-1). Ryleigh Carper went 2 for 2 with four RBIs while Natalie Morgart collected a hit and three RBIs for the Eagles. Maryelle Wanless doubled for Ellis School (2-7, 0-1).

South Park 16, Charleroi 0 – Sydney Dubyak (3 for 3) had a double and two RBIs while Mady Wilder and Grace Kempton both had hits and three RBIs for South Park (14-0, 9-0) in a Section 3-3A win.

Boys tennis

North Catholic 4, Mt. Pleasant 1 – No. 4 North Catholic swept the doubles matches, getting wins from the teams of Jake Sinclair/Paddy McCabe and Brenner Lord/Jackson Schlegel to take a Class 2A first-round match. Justin Garvey and Alex Lopez Foubert won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles for the Trojans. Austyn Gross won at No. 2 singles for No. 13 Mt. Pleasant.

Boys volleyball

Canon-McMillan 3, Peters Township 0 – Justin Peters had eight kills, 22 assists, three blocks and three aces to lead Canon-McMillan to a Section 1-3A win. Henry Klinar had 10 kills, Landon Paterson added nine kills and Jack Steele had eight kills and three blocks. Nolan Rosing recorded 10 digs and Aydin Winkelblech dished out 13 assists.
