May flowers won’t be the only thing coming up this weekend. There’s a bouquet of events going on all weekend, just for you. Here’s a few ideas.
Made in Ligonier Market
The Ligonier Country Market is kicking off its 50th season with this new event. The Ligonier Country Market typically focuses on local agriculture, with more than 100 vendors at the weekly markets throughout the summer months, but this event is just for Ligonier Valley vendors.
Head to the Diamond in Ligonier to shop all of the goods made by your talented neighbors while taking in the scenery of the lovely downtown area. Vendors will include Cabin & Creek, Eden Apiaries LLC, Silver Horse Coffee, The Cozy Rose LLC and many more.
The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. To learn more about the event, visit ligoniercountrymarket.com.
Foreigner tribute
There’s nothing like the melodies and soaring vocals of classic rock band Foreigner. Their songs “Hot Blooded,” “Cold As Ice,” “I Want To Know What Love Is” and many more have cemented their place in the rock and roll canon. Now you can see something close to the real thing, live.
“Double Vision: The Foreigner Experience” features top-notch professional musicians.
This tribute show will start at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $34 each. Get yours or learn more at lamptheatre.org.
Free Museum Day
Sunday will be a great day in the Ligonier Valley to learn something and see beautiful art as you can take the whole family to museums — for free!
Six museums will participate in the event, including Compass Inn Museum, Fort Ligonier, Ligonier Valley Rail Road Museum, Lincoln Highway Experience, Antiochian Heritage Museum and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art. Check out one of these stops or make a day of it and go to as many as possible.
Free Museum Day is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Museum guides at each stop will be able to provide information. Learn more at compassinn.org.
Youth orchestra spring concert
The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will be showing off the musical talents of the next generation at this spring concert by the youth program.
The WYSO has three ensembles: the Philharmonic, Philharmonia and String Ensemble. All three will perform at this free, general admission concert. The students will play works by Mozart, Vivaldi, Bizet, Rossini and more.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Ave., Greensburg. See more at westmorelandsymphony.org.

As part of the Year of Women Artists, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art will host a talk on artist Mary Cassatt by Jennifer Thompson, the Gloria and Jack Drosdick curator of European paintings and curator of the John G. Johnson collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Cassatt was a Pittsburgh native who became famous for her impressionist painting. One of her works is in the collection at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art.
