QV relies on ‘Big Bench Energy’
Most people have undoubtedly heard of the BBB, aka the Better Business Bureau.
The Quaker Valley baseball team has the BBE to thank for some of its regular-season success in 2025.
“Our BBB, or ‘Big Bench Energy,’ from the players has been incredibly important to our success and grittiness where we do not believe we have lost (a game) until the last out is made,” QV coach Rich Garbee said. “Key guys here are Wyatt Hamm, Kyle Rader, Aiden Bellissimo, Ian Benson, Rafe Furfari, Caden Hanna, Mattias Lezama and Mason Wydra.
Lezama combined with Holden Kirkham to throw a one-hitter against Sto-Rox at the end of April.
• The assistant coaches on Quaker Valley’s baseball team are Garret Polka and Clayton Bouchard.
“Garret and Clayton have done an exemplary job of improving our team’s catching, hitting and base running abilities,” Garbee said.
