A late goal against turned a potentially inspirational Pittsburgh Riverhounds victory into a 1-1 draw against the Indy Eleven on Saturday night.
The Riverhounds played most of the game down a man after Pat Hogan was sent off in the fifth minute. Still, Danny Griffin scored on a volley from the front of the net in the 73rd minute to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead.
Robbie Mertz sent a long ball into the box from the left wing. At the back post, Illal Osumanu headed the ball to Griffin, who rocketed it into the net.
Romario Williams, however, found the equalizer for Indy (10-6-9) on a free kick in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time.
The Riverhounds (7-11-9) are in ninth place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings with seven games to play. They’re three points behind Birmingham Legion and Loudoun United, which are tied for the last two playoff spots.
The Riverhounds return home to host Rhose Island FC at 7 p.m. Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
