Ruth Ann 'Sue' (Barclay) Cowan, 85, of Derry Township, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at her home. Born May 17, 1939, in Derry Township, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Anna E. (Bryner) Barclay. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Torrance State Hospital with 33 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cross-stitching. Most of all, Sue loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was a blessing to everyone who knew her. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. 'Flip' Cowan Sr.; two sons, Robert Cowan and Eugene W. 'Flip' Cowan Jr.; three brothers, Thomas, William, and Joseph Barclay; and two sisters, Betty Barclay and Alice 'Peg' Lang. Sue is survived by one daughter, Lora Johnson, and her husband Doug, of Latrobe; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Cowan of Derry; two brothers, John David Barclay, and his wife Charlene, of Blairsville and Robert E. Barclay Jr. of Parker, PA; four grandchildren, Tara Lynn Scekeres, and her husband Sol, Ann Marie Johnson, Andrea Elizabeth Johnson, and Laramie Ruth Antolik, and her husband Jacob; one great-grandchild, Everest Jaxon Scekeres; and she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 2024, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC., 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Shrum officiating. Private interment will be at Coles Cemetery.
