The Upper St Clair Bethel Park Rotary, Breakfast Club, may have hosted its most successful Night of Giving ever.

More than 100 guests, Rotarians, sponsors and representatives of nonprofits gathered in April to celebrate the fruits of the club’s annual Chicken BBQ: donating $55,000 to 30 local charities.

“The list of charities in attendance was amazing,” said Rae Shah, co-owner of Frenchie’s Modern Nail Care salon. “And to see the breadth of the work these charities offer our communities was simply inspiring.”

What she and her co-owner and husband, Amit Shah, witnessed was two communities coming together to support one another in many ways, including life-saving technology to help local police officers, support for families suffering from suicide loss, assistance for fallen veterans, support for Boy Scouts, and providing sport and music camp scholarships for special needs and underprivileged children

“This year was especially hard,” Night of Giving co-chair Scott Churchill said, “because we received $17,000 alone in food grant requests. We tried really hard to help as many groups as we could with the money raised from the BBQ.”

The Upper St. Clair Bethel Park Rotary, Breakfast Club, focuses its efforts on local charities, especially those charities that support veterans, children, and the elderly. For a complete list of charities supported, visit uscbprotary.org.
