Water main break on Parkway East causes severe backups

A water main break on Pittsburgh’s busiest highway caused major traffic delays Thursday morning.

The Parkway East, or Interstate 376, has a major water main break in the Edgewood/Swissvale area that has reduced traffic flow to a single lane, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

I-376 westbound is down a single lane of traffic because of the water main break. As of 8:15 a.m., congestion was backed up for over 3 miles starting near Exit 77 at Regent Square, extending to Exit 80 at the Penn Hills interchange, according to PennDOT.
