In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including the sale of AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, what it might mean for the Pirates on TV, the channel rebranding and the broadcast booth makeover.

Benz and Owen also discuss former Steeler Ryan Clark as the new host of The CW’s “Inside the NFL,” debuting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Owen reports KDKA-TV’s Erica Mokay, who recently filled in on the morning newscasts while Lindsay Ward was on maternity leave, will remain in the mornings anchoring the 7-9 a.m. broadcast on KDKA+, Channel 19, with John Shumway and then the noon news solo on KDKA. But it’s a temporary assignment that isn’t necessarily permanent as the station shuffles anchors around while still seeking a weekend morning anchor to fill the spot vacated by the departure of Briana Smith earlier this year.

And Benz offers his reaction to new Disney+ series “Ahsoka.”
