Rev ’Em Up for Kids

The 13th annual Pasta Too Rev ’Em Up for Kids mega car cruise event is scheduled for Sept. 1 at the South Park VIP and ice-skating rink paved lots off Corrigan Drive in Bethel Park.

In case of inclement weather, the flex day is Sept. 2, Labor Day.

The event is from noon to 7 p.m. and open to all special-interest vehicles. The cost for show vehicles is $5, and none will be admitted before 11 a.m.

Featured are music, food and merchandise vendors, raffles, show T-shirts, a family fun and kids’ zone, and emergency response vehicles on display.

Job fair set for Sept. 14

Bethel Park will host a fall job fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14.

The event at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave., features a variety of businesses searching for full-time, part-time and seasonal workers.

Employers can sign up for a free spot by registering at www.bethelpark.net/jobfair and clicking on the yellow “Register Now” button. Space is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Job seekers should bring résumés and be prepared to potentially interview on the spot. A variety of job search resources will also be available for free, including résumé assistance, setting up a LinkedIn profile, free computer training, interviewing tips and techniques,and educational information.

The job fair is sponsored by the municipality of Bethel Park in cooperation with the Bethel Park Chamber of Commerce. Questions can be directed to kindness@bethelpark.net.

Art Guild meets

Bethel Park Art Guild will meet at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

The gathering at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave., starts with snacks and a light lunch provided by members. A business meeting is at 1, and afterward, Sue Levy will serve as guest speaker.

She has been painting since age 5 and graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in commercial art and fashion illustration. She continued to study with many art instructors locally, nationally and internationally, and teaches watercolor to adult beginners and intermediate painters.

Guests are invited to attend and learn more about the guild, which provides opportunities to hang paintings in shows and local venues, network with local artists, and experiencing guest artists, speakers and demonstrators at meetings.

Environmental lecture series

Thanks to a donation by the N. David & Janet M. Campbell Family Foundation, the Bethel Park Historical Society again will team up with the Allegheny Land Trust for an environmental lecture series in 2024-25.

The lectures will be held at the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center, 2600 South Park Road, starting Sept. 9 with “Animal Athletes,” 5 to 6 p.m., and “All About Hummingbirds,” 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Acting Up Club

South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park, presents the next session of the Acting Up Club 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 11.

The drama and music club for children in second through sixth grades features music, movement, and acting skills as they prepare for the musical “The Christmas County Spelling Bee.”

South Arts shows

South Arts Pittsburgh is hosting two art shows at the Schoolhouse Art & History Center, 2600 South Park Road.

The first show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6, during the Bethel Park Historical Society’s open house (noon to 3) that includes tours of the schoolhouse and coincides with the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company open house across the street. Tour the building and check out a variety of original artwork and photography by local artists.

On Nov. 9 and 10, South Arts Pittsburgh will host a two-day artist market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., also at the Schoolhouse Arts & History Center. The market includes local vendors displaying and selling their work on the first and second floors, and South Arts members’ artwork for sale in one of the classrooms of the historic schoolhouse.

Jewelry, cards, and matted prints also will be available. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

At both events, South Arts will have a basket raffle with chances to win artwork, with proceeds donated to the Bethel Park Historical Society for continued improvements to the schoolhouse.

Fall craft show

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will hold its second annual fall craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the South Park Economics Building, 2050 Buffalo Drive.

Featured are more than 40 vendors, raffles, a DJ and food trucks Hibachi Lou, Frost Fairy, Jo & Di Cravings and Ritter’s Bubble Brew. Proceeds benefit the church.

Bible study for women

South Hills Church of the Nazarene, 5601 Library Road, Bethel Park is offering a women’s evening Bible study at 7 p.m. the first and third Fridays of each month, beginning Oct. 4.

The group will be studying Max Lucado’s Life Lessons from 1, 2, 3 John and Jude. All women are invited to attend. There is no child care.
