The Reverend Thomas L. Funk, of North Huntingdon, passed peacefully on Oct. 3, 2024. Born November 27, 1940, in Munhall, Thomas was the son of the late Albert J. and Elizabeth E. Funk. Thomas, an Eagle Scout and graduate of Thiel College and Drew University, dedicated his life to the ministry of the United Methodist Church, serving as the pastor of the South-East Erie Ministries Henderson, Crafton, McKeesport First and Calvary (North Side) UM Churches along with temporary positions at the Irwin First and Port Vue churches. He also led both the Erie-Meadville District and Pittsburgh District as their Superintendent. His kind and gracious demeanor allowed him to guide and support the congregations of his churches in a remarkable way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Ekis. He is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Narda A. Funk, son Thomas E. (Laura) and daughter Tamara (Brian Ekis). He was the devoted grandfather of Colin J. (Quinn Anlauf), Garrett T. and Claire A. Ekis. Also survived by brother Gary W. (Arlene), brother-in-law David (Patsy) Asson, the late Robert (Kathy) Asson and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom will be remembered by his family as the most supportive and caring husband, father, Pap, brother and uncle. His love of beach vacations, baseball, movies, and humorous storytelling will forever impact their lives. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, and Wednesday from 10 am till time of service at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 971 Beech Ave, Pittsburgh 15233. Interment will follow at Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
