He might like our pizza, but Dave Portnoy doesn’t find Pittsburghers to be very good looking.

Last week, the founder and owner of Barstool Sports was in and around the city reviewing various pizza shops.

In between, he offered commentary of the appearance of Pittsburgh residents.

“This is the second time I have been in Pittsburgh. If we’re rating humans on an attractive scale, I haven’t seen more than a 4.8,” Portnoy said, while standing with a pizza in front of Bella Notte in the city’s Strip District. “And I love it, it’s like that’s why they need football.”

He said a few more things that are contained in this video.

On Friday, most likely after seeing the reaction on social media, Portnoy posted on X: “With all due respect it was a compliment. Nothing fancy about Pittsburgh. Just ugliness, steel and football. My kind of city.”

Portnoy ranks pizzerias on a scale of 1 to 10. His “One Bite Pizza” channel on YouTube has more than 1.3 million subscribers, and his local pizza reviews regularly gain hundreds of thousands of views.

By the way, he gave Bella Notte’s pizza a 7.1, describing it as “doughy.”

In a review posted Wednesday, he gave A Slice of New York in Murrysville a rating of 8.2
