Share Share Share The Steelers are bringing back a familiar name after punter Cameron Johnston was injured late in Pittsburgh's season-opening win at Atlanta on Sunday. Corliss Waitman, who briefly played for the Steelers during the 2021 season, was signed on Monday, the team announced. Waitman spent the 2022 season with the Denver Broncos, and he was on the New England Patriots practice squad in 2023. The Chicago Bears waived him last month. "He appears to have a serious injury," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said about Johnston after the game. In addition to his punting duties, Johnston serves as the holder for kicker Chris Boswell.
