Richard John Todd, Jr. ('Dick'), 86, of Sewickley, passed away peacefully at Allegheny General Hospital on Sept. 19, 2024. The only child of Mary Elizabeth O'Halloran and Richard J. Todd, Sr., he spent his whole life living in Sewickley, attending St. James Catholic School and Sewickley High School. He spent his career working for Dravo Lime Company and Carmeuse International up until his retirement in 2000. His job as a technical engineer gave him the opportunity to travel the US and the world, something that he loved doing. After 'retirement,' Dick spent time with his own consulting business, and later, to keep busy, he delivered prescriptions for the Sewickley Rite Aid. He was a long-time member of the Senior Men's Club and served as the Treasurer. While he loved classic cars, his biggest hobby was flying, he loved flying. Dick had his private pilots license plus an instrument and instructor rating. He loved his time as a flight instructor and had over 4,000 hours of flight time. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his stepfather, Theodore (Ted) Soeder. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene Ebner Todd; his daughter, Lisa Hart (Michael); grandchildren, Caitlin and Conor Hart, who lovingly called him 'Pap' (all of Sewickley); his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet Ebner and Jim Zerilla of Sarasota, FL; his sister-in-law, Susie Trosky of Gibsonia; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements will be handled by R.D. COPELANDS FUNERAL, LTD., Irvine Chapel. A private service for the family will be held at St. James Cemetery in Sewickley. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Divine Redeemer Angel Fund, c/o St. James School, 201 Broad St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
