Kennywood announces 2024 schedule
Kennywood is scheduled to open its 126th season on April 20.
The amusement park released its schedule for the season on its website. Ticket prices start at $39.99.
Kennywood also is hiring seasonal workers, with job openings available for people starting at age 14. Hiring events are scheduled for March 9 and April 6.
Vehicle strikes pedestrian in Butler
A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Monday evening after being hit by a vehicle in Butler Township.
One person was flown to a local hospital, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
The crash occurred on State Route 8 outside of the Greater Butler Mart shopping area around 7:20 p.m.
The victim’s condition was not immediately known.
Butler Township police’s accident reconstruction team is investigating the crash.
Braddock-Kenmawr ramp to close in Rankin
The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp in Rankin is slated to close for repairs, Allegheny County officials said.
The ramp, between Talbot Avenue and Line Street, will shut down starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 19. The closure is expected to run through sometime in December.
During the closure, crews will replace the ramp, which is rated in poor condition, officials said. Work include new pavement, sidewalk, curb, drainage, barrier and guiderail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signage and pavement markings.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Talbot and Fourth and Sixth streets. Westbound traffic will be detoured on Fourth and Talbot.
Robinson-based Mosites Construction is completing the $9.3 million project.
Pittsburgh closes Crawford-Roberts playground
The Albert “Turk” Graham Playground in Pittsburgh’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood was closed because of “urgent equipment replacement needs,” the city’s Department of Public Works announced Monday.
The playground, located at Foreside Place and Vine Street, is scheduled to be replaced this year. City officials allocated $250,000 in this year’s capital budget to replace the playground.
People can offer feedback on potential designs for a new playground online. The city is seeking public opinions on various renderings, and asking for input on play equipment and color palettes.
Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobile to visit Western Pa.
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is slated to make several stops in the area this week.
The iconic 27-foot-long, hot-dog-shaped vehicle will be at BJs in South Fayette from 11 a.m-3 p.m. Tuesday.
Visitors can get Wiener Whistles while supplies last, as well as coupons.
The Wienermobile also is slated to stop at BJs in Ross Township from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday and at Butler AM Rotary Carved in Ice on South Main Street in Butler from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

The Wienermobile tours year-round. There are six such hotdog-themed vehicles in Oscar Mayer’s fleet.
