The Buccos ace struck out nine batters last night in a 3-2 win over the Marlins and set a new record for the most strikeouts for a Pirates rookie, a record that had been in place for nearly 125 years. The rookie phenom was theNo. 1 overall pick by the Piratesin the 2023 MLB Draft. Since then, he has taken the baseball world by storm, quickly becoming one of the best pitchers in the league and is making a strong case to be the National League's Rookie of the Year.
