The Presidents’ Athletic Conference selected Saint Vincent senior lacrosse standout Brody McMahon as its defensive player of the year and also put him on the all-conference first team.
Senior attacker Jordan Billet, senior midfielder Caleb Hawkins, sophomore faceoff specialist Brady Beard, graduate short-sticker Max Schuler and grad goalie Noah Sperling also made the first team.
McMahon led the PAC with 52 caused turnovers and has 74 ground balls.
Billet led the conference with 70 points, on 38 goals and 32 assists.
Hawkins had 42 goals and 25 helpers, Beard won 60.9% of his faceoffs, Schuler had 53 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers.
Sperling has a 7.56 goals-against average and 57.6 save percentage for Saint Vincent (15-3), which has one win and one loss in the PAC Tournament.
Seton Hill: Seton Hill is known for having a high-powered offense, but its defense isn’t far behind.
Grad student Josh Miller led the way in postseason honors as he was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year.
Griffins’ boss Brian Novotny was tabbed the conference coach of the year. In addition, Miller joined sophomore defender Holden Charboneau and senior midfielder Jeremy Sforzo on the first team.
Miller had an 11-4 record and a 8.48 goals-against average and finished the season with 125 saves.
Charboneau had 21 ground balls, and Sforzo had a team-high 53 points (28 goals, 23 assists).
Novotny guided Seton Hill (12-5) to its fourth GMAC regular-season title.
Women’s track and field
Arizona: Junior Mackenna Orie (Hempfield) took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 54 feet, 2.5 inches at the PAC-12 Championships.
Orie also finished sixth in the discus.
Cal (Pa.): Junior Malia Anderson (Greensburg Salem) repeated as the 800-meter dash champion at the PSAC Championships, taking the title in 2 minutes, 12.72 seconds. Anderson picked up All-PSAC honors three times in her career.
Clarion: Senior Jenna Uncapher (Hempfield) broke a 15-year-old program record in the heptathlon at the PSAC Championships.
Uncapher finished second in the event with 4,501 points. Uncapher broke the record of 4,481 set by Diane Kress in 2008.
Duquesne: Junior Sadie Wetzel (Latrobe) finished fourth in the high jump at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Fairfax, Va.
Her distance was 5-6.
Slippery Rock: Katie Plassio (Norwin) finished third in the 10,000 at the PSAC Championships to earn first-team all-conference honors. Her time was 37:43.
Waynesburg: Junior Megan Barry (Norwin) finished third in the javelin with a mark of 37.53 meters at the Marty Goldberg Invitational at Allegheny.
Men’s track and field
Allegheny: Junior Jake Boord (Hempfield) won the javelin title at the Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational in Meadville.
Boord’s winning toss sailed 61.80 meters to give him a comfortable victory. Senior Jake King (Latrobe) finished sixth in the hammer throw.
Grove City: Junior Gabe Dunlap (Penn-Trafford) finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 172 feet, 11 inches at the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet at Baldwin Wallace. He added a 10th place in the long jump.
High Point: Junior Jake Tarosky (Norwin) ran to a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 as High Point won its third straight Big South Conference championship.
Seton Hill: Sophomore Gabe McConville brought home a championship from the PSAC finals. He won the 1,500 in 3:50.78.
Southern Illinois: Sophomore Daniel Norris (Hempfield) won the discus title at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Carbondale, Ill. Norris threw 54.89 meters.
Men’s tennis
Saint Vincent: Sophomore Brian Lee (Penn-Trafford) was named to the All-PAC Second Team.
