Pittsburgh is getting another flight to the New York City area.

Spirit Airlines announced Thursday it will start nonstop, seasonal service between Pittsburgh International Airport and New York-LaGuardia Airport on May 8, according to the Allegheny County Airport Authority.

A daily round-trip flight will operate through late October. The inbound flight will depart from LaGuardia at 3:21 p.m. and arrive in Pittsburgh at 4:48 p.m. The outbound will leave from Pittsburgh at 5:48 p.m. and arrive at LaGuardia at 7:09 p.m.

The one-way flights are listed as low as $258, according to Spirit’s website. The route will operate on 228-seat Airbus A321 aircrafts.

Spirit becomes the third carrier to offer nonstop service to LaGuardia, located in Queens in New York City. The airline joins American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, both of which offer multiple daily flights out of LaGuardia.

The New York City region is one of PIT’s best served, now with seven routes from Pittsburgh. Spirit also offers one daily nonstop flight to Newark International Airport, located in New Jersey, about a half hour from Manhattan.

LaGuardia becomes Spirit’s 10th destination served nonstop from Pittsburgh International Airport. Spirit recently added a direct flight to Miami last November.

Spirit joins other recent route expansions out of PIT, including a slew of Frontier flights — including twice daily trips to Philadelphia — and new nonstop service to San Diego on Southwest and Breeze.
