Eileen P. Haggerty, 72, of New Stanton, died Saturday, Sept. 07, 2024, in the Rehabilitation and Nursing Ctr. of Pittsburgh. She was born Dec. 05, 1951, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Hugh (Irish) V. and Dorothy A. Stauffer Haggerty. After graduating from high school, Eileen was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in Greensburg for almost ten years before deciding to continue her studies at Youngstown State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then moved to Houston, TX, where she worked as a senior accountant for Houston Light and Power and then for a short time for the Shell Oil Company, all the while owning and operating a Dollar Store in Houston. She decided to return home to Westmoreland County about ten years ago to be closer to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Anne Haggerty. She is survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Stofko of Marguerite and Valerie Thomas of West Newton; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Micki Hegan (Gary) of Latrobe; and her beloved pets, Cat, Fred, Sister, and Andy. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with Fr. Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
