Adele Morelli, 55, of Pittsburgh, passed away from complications of an unexpected illness on Sept. 21, 2024, while in Portugal, one day short of her fifty-sixth birthday. A Pittsburgh native, Adele was a pioneer of downtown living for over 25 years. She was a radiant light, drawing people in with her warmth and compassion, and she has left an extraordinary impact on her community by leading with love, kindness, and authenticity. Adele grew up in Shaler and was a graduate of Shaler Area High School. She went to college at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a degree in economics. She went on to work in banking, which fostered her love of Excel spreadsheets, but did little to fulfill her passion to help people. In 2013, after the death of her mom, Adele "corrected her course," as she liked to say, when the opportunity to own her own business arose. Adele took a bold leap from corporate work and purchased Boutique La Passerelle on Wood Street. For more than a decade, she cultivated a sanctuary of self-expression where she gave her clients the confidence to embrace their individuality. She worked fiercely to make downtown a more welcoming and vibrant place. Proudly serving on the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership Board of Directors, she was honored with the 2022 Herb Burger Award, celebrating her extraordinary service to the organization and dedication to the city. A world traveler, Adele often traveled to Europe to shop for her boutique and explore. She recently immersed herself in an English as a Second Language course and was putting the wheels in motion to relocate to Europe and "correct her course" once again. Adele embraced life with joy, enthusiasm, and purpose. Bike rides, roller skating, book club, live music, trying new restaurants, playing tennis and pickleball, and more, were all enjoyed with her wide circle of close friends. Sundays were always reserved for family dinners and chatting endlessly with her siblings, nieces, and nephews, with whom she shared a special bond. She gave endlessly to those around her and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Adele is survived by her siblings, Mike Morelli (Linda), Lynn Young, and Frank Morelli (Judy); as well as her nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jennifer, Joe, Michael, Rachel, Frankie; and her great-nieces and nephews, Claire, Cole, Case, Chloe, Jack, Brett, and Melody. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dee Morelli.
