A 67-year-old Arnold woman smeared her own blood on the shirt of a man attacking her in her home so there would be evidence in case he killed her, according to police.

Cue Anthony Freckleton, 28, is accused of forcing his way into the woman’s home Monday night and sexually assaulting her. Before he left, he told the woman it would continue the next day, Arnold police said.

A relative took the woman to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison after finding her bloody, according to court papers.

Officers found Freckleton in front of his residence on Taylor Avenue, wearing a button-down shirt that had noticeable blood stains on it, according to court papers.

Police said he refused to talk with them.

Freckleton did not have an attorney listed in court records.

The woman told police Freckleton also punched her in the face more than 20 times, dragged her by the hair and choked her during the assault, court papers said. Freckleton is accused of ordering the woman to perform a sex act on him or he would keep beating her, according to court papers.

The woman told police she was afraid she would die, so she decided to smear her blood on Freckleton’s shirt for evidence in case he killed her, court papers said.

Freckleton tried to rape the woman but stopped after she promised she would not tell anyone, according to court papers.

Arnold police charged Freckleton with attempted criminal homicide, rape, aggravated assault, burglary and strangulation. He was denied bail when he was arraigned on the charges early Tuesday.

Freckleton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 27 before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.
