Irwin church plans Oktoberfest
The First United Church of Christ at 400 Main St., Irwin, will hold an alcohol-free Oktoberfest with kielbasa, pork, hot dogs, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce and dessert from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17.
Tickets are pre-sale only: $12 for adults and $6 for children.
Ardara church to hold purse auction
There will be new and used purses filled with mystery items that will be up for auction off at the annual ladies luncheon and mystery purse auction at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 3380 Nehrig Hill Road, North Huntingdon.
The cost is $10 for lunch, games and prizes.
All proceeds will go to the Ardara Church Mission Fund.

Advocacy group to hold fundraiser
The East Suburban Citizen Advocacy, a nonprofit organization that promotes and supports people with developmental disabilities, will host an Oct. 19 fundraiser at the YMCA of Laurel Highlands in East Huntingdon..
The fundraiser will be led by artist Gabi Nastuck of Miss Gabi’s Art Studio, and is open to people of all ages and abilities. Participants will learn how to create a fall painting of a pumpkin. Sessions will be at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the YMCA, 490 Bessemer Road in Mt. Pleasant.
Registration is $40 and includes all painting supplies and light refreshments. There will be basket raffles as well. Proceeds benefits ESCA’s programs, which are free to those with disabilities in Westmoreland and eastern Allegheny counties.
