Cameron Barmore caught seven passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns for the Lakers (1-0). Earnest Davis ran for 73 yards and Brian Trobel had 70 rushing yards and a touchdown. Yough grad Russell Pytlak had a 10-yard TD catch.
Mercyhurst took the lead for good when a Strobel 1-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the first half made it 21-17.
For Wheeling (0-1), Javon Davis threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns and Tre Holloway caught six balls for 125 yards and two scores.
Fairmont State 56, Seton Hill 24 โ Will Adkins threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns, and Fairmont State (1-0) racked up 208 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in a season-opening win over Seton Hill (0-1). KyโRon Craggette ran for 95 yards and a score, and Jake Cruz threw for 238 yards and a touchdown for the Griffins, who led 10-7 late in the second quarter before Fairmont State pulled away. Todd Phillips had three catches for 93 yards, and Ethan Fame made four grabs for 91 yards and a score for Seton Hill.
Clarion 36, Millersville 7 โ Anthony Guercio threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 106 yards and two more scores to lead Clarion (1-0) past Millersville (0-1). Trevon Tate had five catches for 118 yards and a score for the Golden Eagles.
East Stroudsburg 24, Edinboro 12 โ Sean McTaggart threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead East Stroudsburg (1-0) past Edinboro (0-1). McTaggart hit John Siggins for a 17-yard touchdown in the first quarter and DJ Thompson on an 8-yarder after halftime. Tahir Mills led ESU with 96 rushing yards. Jerry Dinkins ran 16 times for 47 yards and caught seven passes for 68 yards for Edinboro. Isaac Bernard threw for 162 yards and two interceptions.
