Four new officers were sworn in at the October Council meeting, as well as K9 Officer Cypress, who detects the odor of Triphenylphosphine oxide, a chemical on electronic devices, which are sometimes hidden inside walls, ceilings and other inconspicuous locations to conceal a crime. She found an iPhone that was hidden in a ceiling and which was critical to an FBI investigation. At the annual Tips for Cops charity event, the Penn Hills Police Department, along with the Churchill, Monroeville and Wilkins Police Departments raised over $8,000.
