Street Sweeping begins on April 1st and goes until December 15th. Please adhere to the street sweeping signs. The times and days of the week for street sweeping are posted on each street in the Borough. Vehicles are to be moved during those times, even if the street sweeper has passed through. Fines for street sweeping are $10.00 and if not paid, a state citation will be issued. We want to thank you in advance for keeping the lanes clear, so the street sweeper can clean the streets. Why is street sweeping necessary? Many residents don't know that the Borough is mandated to perform this service in an effort to reduce runoff waste into our sewer system. This is one of nine (9) mandatory minimum controls which the Borough is mandated to follow by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and ALCOSAN. This program is much more than "making the streets look nice." During the street sweeping program, our dedicated DPW workers collect leaves, silt, sediment, and other foreign bodies that would otherwise go into the APRIL EVENTS: Monday, April 14th 6 to 8 p.m Aspinwall Tee Ball Open House Borough Building Saturday, April 26th 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FCASD Community Safety, Health & Wellness Aspinwall Municipal Lot Sunday, April 27th 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Farmer's Market Opening Aspinwall Municipal Lot local watersheds. The street sweeper does NOT pick up yard waste or trimmings. Do not blow or rake yard debris into the street. A few other reminders as we enter into the warmer months, please be mindful and be sure to help keep our community clean by maintaining your property. Trash bins and items to be collected by Shank should be put out after 5 p.m. the night before pickup. Vehicles that are not registered and display current inspection are prohibited from being stored on any public street or openly stored on private property. Property should be free of trash, rubbish, and open storage. Buildings, including main structures, sheds, garages, and car ports should be in good repair and structurally sound. The Borough hired Ryan Santelli, BCO/ZO in 2024 as our full-time Building Inspector and Zoning Officer. Ryan is responsible for building permits, code violations, zoning and occupancy permits and rental inspections.
