The Borough's history is one of community spirit, hard work, and vision. What began as farmland along the Allegheny River has grown into one of the region's most charming and close-knit river towns. In the mid-1800s, the land that would become Aspinwall was owned by the descendants of General James O'Hara, a Revolutionary War officer and prominent Pittsburgh businessman. In 1890, O'Hara's granddaughter, Annie Aspinwall O'Hara Denny, sold a portion of the family's land to the newly formed Aspinwall Land Company, which she helped establish. The company developed the area into a residential community for families who wanted to live near Pittsburgh but outside its industrial core. Aspinwall was officially incorporated as a borough in 1892. Its early residents included merchants, river workers, and professionals who commuted by streetcar or ferry into the city. The town quickly developed its own identity-marked by tree-lined streets, modest homes, and a strong sense of civic pride. Through the decades, Aspinwall has maintained its small-town character while adapting to change. The borough's compact layout, walkable neighborhoods, and active local government have helped REAL ESTAT preserve its historic charm. Today, Aspinwall is known for its welcoming spirit, thriving business district, and community events that bring residents together throughout the year.
